Craigellachie's distillery, designed by Charles Doig, was buit in 1890 and had all modern conveniences with the express intention of making a lighter fruitier character than the older distilleries, which includes such unusual yet very desirable notes of pineapple. It was great for blending in such iconic Scotch brands like White Horse. Long fermentation has prevailed and tropical and floral aromas emerge in the mature spirit. In 2014, Dewar's relaunched Craigellachie as a single malt brand. Cask Number: #300594 Cask Type: Finished in First fill Bourbon Cask Bottles: 294 Colour: Dried Yellow Sultana Nose: Sweet vanilla and delicate mallow gently waft from the glass followed by soft cereal and a hint of honey. Palate: Quite rooty to start with hints of gentian, liquorice and leather followed by a distinct syrupy spice that blends effortlessly with the more complex liquorice. Finish: Sharp and spiritous with just a hint of tannin, rich with minerals and a hint of ozone.~ Master of Malt

The Speyside region's rock, Craigellachie, is everything not your average 'Speyside' whiskey. Its fruity, muscular flavor, which was considered out of date even in 1891, is due to the employment of worm tub condensers. This robust but fragrant flavour goes against what is expected. Many distilleries in the earlier days of whiskey manufacturing used worm tubs to chill their alcohol. We continue to use this conventional method of returning our vapour to liquid form after distillation. We discover that the worm tubs give the spirit an added flavor, aiding in the development of our unique personality.
