Glenmorangie, a renowned Highland Single Malt Whisky distillery, is relaunching its popular 18 Year Old edition under a new name and design. Known for its complexity and balance, the whisky will now be available as Glenmorangie The Infinita 18 Years Old. This rebranding is part of a broader initiative by the distillery in Tain, which has been gradually updating the appearance of its entire range.
Following the redesigns of Glenmorangie The Original 10 Years Old, Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 Years Old, and Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Years Old, the 18-year-old whisky now features a fresh, modern look. The new packaging stands out with its striking royal blue color adorned with infinity symbols, complemented by a radiant copper-colored label. In addition to the aesthetic changes, the new bottle is also 12% lighter than its predecessor, reflecting a move towards more sustainable packaging.
Despite the new look, the whisky's recipe remains unchanged. The Infinita is matured for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks before being split into two batches. One batch continues to mature in the ex-bourbon casks, while the other is transferred to ex-Oloroso sherry casks. After an additional three years, the two batches are reunited and bottled at 43% ABV.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie, describes The Infinita as embodying the distillery's style in perfect harmony. He highlights the seamless combination of subtle sherry cask flavors, extensive wood maturation, and the typical fruity character of Glenmorangie. This results in a balanced single malt that offers a new experience with every sip.
