It was released in 2018 as the ninth release in the Private Edition range. Spìos is the Gaelic word for 'spice', and this whisky is named after its distinctive spicy character. Spìos is matured entirely in American ex-rye whiskey casks, which is a first for Glenmorangie. The spicy character of the rye whiskey casks adds notes of black pepper, cinnamon, and clove to the traditional Glenmorangie flavor profile of honey, vanilla, and citrus. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is non-chill filtered, which allows the whisky to retain more of its natural flavors and aromas.
