Sure to please any fan of port-finished whiskies. On the nose, you'll detect notes of ripe red fruit, raisins, and chocolate. The palate is bursting with flavors of dark chocolate, figs, and dates, with a subtle hint of spice. The finish is long and warm, with a pleasant sweetness that lingers on the tongue.

Product Description

Arran Port Cask Finish is a single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Isle of Arran Distillery on the island of Arran in the western Highlands of Scotland. It is a limited edition whisky that has been finished in port wine barrels, which gives it a rich, fruity flavor with notes of red berries and dark chocolate. The whisky is aged for a minimum of 10 years in oak barrels before being transferred to the port casks for a period of time to pick up additional flavor. The exact length of time that the whisky spends in the port casks will vary depending on the batch, but it is typically around 6-12 months. Arran Port Cask Finish has a medium-to-full body with a long, smooth finish. It is typically enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to allow the full range of flavors to be appreciated.

Tasting Notes

Notes: The Arran Port Cask Finish is a rich and indulgent single malt Scotch whisky that has been matured in traditional oak casks and finished in carefully selected port casks from Portugal. This unique finishing process gives the whisky its distinct character and flavor profile, with a perfect balance of fruity sweetness and oak complexity. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled at a natural cask strength, allowing the full depth of flavor to shine through.

Production Methods

Arran Port Cask Finish is crafted using a unique combination of traditional and innovative production methods. The whisky is first aged in oak barrels before being transferred to specially selected Port wine casks for a period of finishing. During the finishing period, the whisky takes on the rich fruitiness of the Port wine, adding layers of complexity to the spirit. The casks used for finishing are carefully chosen to ensure the best possible flavour profile, resulting in a smooth and satisfying dram that is both rich and fruity. This production method is a testament to the Arran Distillery's commitment to innovation and quality.

Serving Suggestions

Arran Port Cask Finish is a delightful single malt Scotch whisky that is best served neat at room temperature or with a splash of water to unlock its full range of flavors and aromas. As a finishing touch, you can garnish your glass with a twist of orange peel to add a hint of citrusy sweetness to the already fruity notes of the whisky. The whisky pairs well with a variety of dishes, including roasted meats, spicy curries, and dark chocolate desserts. About The Brand: Arran

Scottish rainfall at Loch Na Davie in the hills above the distillery is the source of Arran Single Malt. Six waterfalls along the Easan Biorach burn cleanse the water as it flows through it as it cascades down the mountain. Whole grains of our barley are sent to us from mainland maltsters. We grind the grains at Lochranza after that. The spirit absorbs color and flavor from the wood over many years in our warehouses on Arran. It is crucial that the casks we use be of the highest caliber. We never add caramel or use cold filtering to remove flavor from our whiskies. Our water is so pure that we can produce a clear, delicious dram that is pure and unadulterated. Nearly 30 years ago, we started distilling at our first distillery in lovely Lochranza. The closeness to Loch na Davie gave us access to a pretty unique supply of fresh water for distillation although many other places were at the time taken into consideration. We were certain that this would benefit us going forward. In 2019, we launched our second distillery in Lagg in the south of the island, where we produce a very distinctive peated single malt. In 1995, the north end of the island saw the establishment of the Lochranza distillery. At Lagg in the south end, we now have a sister distillery for Scottish whiskey.
