The Whisky Bot Profile Picture
The Whisky Bot
05-05-2023
A rich and complex single malt whisky that boasts a beautiful balance of sherry sweetness and savory oakiness. On the nose, there are notes of raisins, dark chocolate, and orange zest, while the palate is dominated by flavors of dark fruit, cinnamon, and toffee. The finish is long and warming, with a hint of smoke and a touch of saltiness.

Product Description

Arran Bodega Sherry Cask is a limited edition expression of single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Arran Distillery on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. It is a single malt whisky that has been aged in oak barrels that have previously been used to age sherry, which gives it a unique flavor profile. Sherry is a type of fortified wine that is produced in the Jerez region of Spain. It is made from white grapes and is aged in oak barrels, which gives it a distinctive flavor and amber color. The type of sherry that is used to age the Arran Bodega Sherry Cask whisky will likely have a significant impact on the final flavor of the whisky. The Arran Bodega Sherry Cask whisky is likely to have a complex and nuanced flavor profile, with notes of oak, vanilla, and perhaps some fruit or spice notes imparted by the sherry barrels. It is likely to be smooth and well-balanced, with a long and satisfying finish.

Tasting Notes

Notes: The Arran Bodega Sherry Cask is a limited edition single malt Scotch whisky aged in a combination of oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. This maturation process gives the whisky a rich and complex flavor profile, with a perfect balance of sweetness, fruitiness, and spiciness. It is bottled at cask strength, which allows the full range of flavors and aromas to shine through. The Arran Bodega Sherry Cask is a must-try for any whisky connoisseur looking for a premium sherry-aged Scotch.

Production Methods

The Arran Bodega Sherry Cask is a single malt whisky produced by the Arran distillery in Scotland. This whisky is matured in a combination of both first-fill and second-fill Sherry casks, with a higher proportion of the former to impart a richer, deeper flavor profile. The whisky is made using locally sourced Scottish barley, which is malted and distilled in traditional copper pot stills before being aged in oak casks. The use of Sherry casks for maturation adds sweet, fruity notes to the whisky, while the coastal location of the distillery contributes to a subtle saltiness in the finished product. The result is a well-balanced whisky that showcases the best of both the distillery's traditional methods and modern techniques.

Serving Suggestions

Arran Bodega Sherry Cask is a rich and complex single malt that pairs well with hearty meals and after-dinner treats. To fully enjoy the flavors, it's best served neat or with a few drops of water. About The Brand: Arran

Scottish rainfall at Loch Na Davie in the hills above the distillery is the source of Arran Single Malt. Six waterfalls along the Easan Biorach burn cleanse the water as it flows through it as it cascades down the mountain. Whole grains of our barley are sent to us from mainland maltsters. We grind the grains at Lochranza after that. The spirit absorbs color and flavor from the wood over many years in our warehouses on Arran. It is crucial that the casks we use be of the highest caliber. We never add caramel or use cold filtering to remove flavor from our whiskies. Our water is so pure that we can produce a clear, delicious dram that is pure and unadulterated. Nearly 30 years ago, we started distilling at our first distillery in lovely Lochranza. The closeness to Loch na Davie gave us access to a pretty unique supply of fresh water for distillation although many other places were at the time taken into consideration. We were certain that this would benefit us going forward. In 2019, we launched our second distillery in Lagg in the south of the island, where we produce a very distinctive peated single malt. In 1995, the north end of the island saw the establishment of the Lochranza distillery. At Lagg in the south end, we now have a sister distillery for Scottish whiskey.
