A 23-year-old Highland single malt from Elixir Distillers' Whisky Trail Retro Birds series, made at Ben Nevis distillery and matured in a single hogshead for more than two decades before being bottled in 2019. Aromas of wax, camphor and liquorice burst through the nose, followed by sugar-dusted orange, grapefruit, pineapple and guava. The palate is initially austere, with notes of polished oak, walnut, hazelnut and Armagnac, developing into caramel cookies, olive oil and salt, with a strong citrus edge in the finish.~ The Whisky Exchange

In Scotland's Fort William, there is a distillery called Ben Nevis. At 1,345 meters (4,413 feet) above sea level, Ben Nevis is the tallest peak in the British Isles, and it is located at its foot. A coastal distillery in the Western Highlands gets its water from the Allt a'Mhuilinn, which springs from the Coire Leis and Coire na'Ciste lakes on Ben Nevis. It was established in 1825 as an independent business, and since 1989, Nikka Whisky Distilling of Tokyo, Japan, has owned it.
