Diageo's Lagavulin Unveils Exclusive 15-Year-Old Single Malt for Islay Jazz Festival's 25th Anniversary
Lagavulin, the iconic Scotch brand under the Diageo umbrella, has introduced a distinguished 15-year-old single malt whisky in honor of the Islay Jazz Festival, scheduled to take place from September 15th to 19th. Celebrating the festival's 25th anniversary, this limited edition release, adorned with the influence of oloroso Sherry casks, is set to captivate whisky connoisseurs.
This exceptional 15-year-old expression boasts intricate notes of dried fruit and walnut, creating a sensory journey that mirrors the jazz-inspired spirit of the Islay Jazz Festival. Jordan Paisley, Lagavulin distillery manager, shared his excitement, stating, "The Islay Jazz Festival is always a very exciting time for everyone on the island. This year, to celebrate the festival, we've created a unique expression of Lagavulin that's been influenced by the thriving Spanish jazz scene, finishing our whisky in oloroso Sherry casks. The result is an exceptional bottling that introduces sweet, red fruity notes, which are beautifully matched to Lagavulin's signature smoke."
Available exclusively at the Lagavulin Distillery on the picturesque Islay island, this coveted whisky is priced at £250 (US$314) for a 700ml bottle. With an impressive ABV of 53.9%, Lagavulin's 15-year-old single malt is a limited release, comprising only 3,000 bottles.
Notably, Lagavulin has a history of commemorating the Islay Jazz Festival, having previously unveiled a 22-year-old single malt to mark the event in 2020. In April of this year, both Lagavulin and Caol Ila, Diageo-owned Islay distilleries, joined forces to create limited edition single malts in celebration of the 2023 Fèis Ìle festival, a renowned nine-day music and whisky extravaganza on the enchanting Scottish island.
