Product Description

Lagavulin 8 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Lagavulin Distillery on the island of Islay in Scotland. The distillery is known for producing heavily peated whiskies, and the 8 Year Old expression is aged for 8 years, which is shorter than the distillery's flagship 16 Year Old expression. The whisky is aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, it is non-chill filtered and bottled at a higher strength (48% ABV) than the standard bottling. The whisky is described as having a rich and powerful flavor profile, with notes of peat smoke, seaweed, and dark chocolate, with a hint of dried fruit and a sweetness, balanced with a gentle spice. The finish is long, warming and smoky. The Lagavulin 8 Year Old is considered a good representation of the distillery's style of producing heavily peated whiskies and it's highly recommended to be enjoyed neat or with a drop of water. Lagavulin 8 Year Old is considered a widely available expression and it's considered a great value for the price. It's considered a good introduction to the Islay style of whisky, and it's a good option for those who are looking for a rich and smoky single malt whisky. It's considered a core expression of the distillery and it's widely distributed. It's a good representation of the distillery's style in a more accessible and affordable format, it has a good balance of smokiness and complexity, and it's a great option for those looking for a young, yet rich and flavorful whisky.

About The Brand: Lagavulin

One of Islay's oldest distilleries, Lagavulin is known around the world for its smokey, peaty whiskies. A malt whiskey distillery called Lagavulin is located in the Scottish hamlet of Lagavulin on the southern tip of the island of Islay. It produces the spirit used to make Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Diageo, a global provider of alcoholic beverages with its headquarters in London, is the owner of Lagavulin. It was once advertised under the no longer in existence Classic Malts line of single malts. The typical release is a 16-year-old with a 43% ABV. Additionally, a Distiller's edition that was aged in Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrels is bottled. A 12-year-old cask-strength variant and numerous older and rarer expressions are also routinely released in addition to these. The name Lagavulin is a translation from the Scottish Gaelic means hollow of the mill, Lag a' Mhuilinn.
