Lagavulin 12 Year Old - Elements of Islay (Lg12) is a single malt Scotch whiskey produced by the Lagavulin distillery, located on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. The Elements of Islay range is a series of independently bottled whiskies, which showcase the different flavor profiles of Islay's eight working distilleries. The Lg12 expression is a 12 year old single malt that has been selected by the independent bottler for its distinctive character, which is said to be representative of the Lagavulin distillery style. Lagavulin is known for producing heavily peated whiskies, with a rich and smoky flavor profile. This particular expression is likely to have a strong peaty flavor, with notes of smoke, seaweed, and salt. It is bottled at a higher alcohol by volume (ABV) than many standard Lagavulin releases, which may help to enhance the flavors and aromas of the whiskey.

One of Islay's oldest distilleries, Lagavulin is known around the world for its smokey, peaty whiskies. A malt whiskey distillery called Lagavulin is located in the Scottish hamlet of Lagavulin on the southern tip of the island of Islay. It produces the spirit used to make Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Diageo, a global provider of alcoholic beverages with its headquarters in London, is the owner of Lagavulin. It was once advertised under the no longer in existence Classic Malts line of single malts. The typical release is a 16-year-old with a 43% ABV. Additionally, a Distiller's edition that was aged in Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrels is bottled. A 12-year-old cask-strength variant and numerous older and rarer expressions are also routinely released in addition to these. The name Lagavulin is a translation from the Scottish Gaelic means hollow of the mill, Lag a' Mhuilinn.
