Lagavulin 1981 Distillers Edition Bot.2000 is a 19-year-old Scotch whisky from the Islay region, known for its rich, peaty character. Lagavulin is recognized for its heavily peated style, which is a hallmark of Islay whiskies. This expression is part of the Distillers Edition series, which typically features a secondary maturation process.
Rich and smoky with notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, and a hint of maritime brine.
Full-bodied with flavors of peat smoke, sweet sherry, and a touch of spice, complemented by a creamy mouthfeel.
Long and warming, with lingering smoke and a subtle sweetness.
A complex and well-balanced expression that showcases the depth of Lagavulin's character.

One of Islay's oldest distilleries, Lagavulin is known around the world for its smokey, peaty whiskies. A malt whiskey distillery called Lagavulin is located in the Scottish hamlet of Lagavulin on the southern tip of the island of Islay. It produces the spirit used to make Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Diageo, a global provider of alcoholic beverages with its headquarters in London, is the owner of Lagavulin. It was once advertised under the no longer in existence Classic Malts line of single malts. The typical release is a 16-year-old with a 43% ABV. Additionally, a Distiller's edition that was aged in Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrels is bottled. A 12-year-old cask-strength variant and numerous older and rarer expressions are also routinely released in addition to these. The name Lagavulin is a translation from the Scottish Gaelic means hollow of the mill, Lag a' Mhuilinn.
