The eagerly anticipated Diageo Special Releases 2022 are here, this time we have a stories of 'Psychedelic Legends Untold'. This is the 'The Flames of the Phoenix' which is a 12 year old Lagavulin single malt matured in heavily peated American Oak refill and virgin oak casks which has created an elemental Lagavulin in which rich, peaty casks lead saltiness, spice and smoke.

One of Islay's oldest distilleries, Lagavulin is known around the world for its smokey, peaty whiskies. A malt whiskey distillery called Lagavulin is located in the Scottish hamlet of Lagavulin on the southern tip of the island of Islay. It produces the spirit used to make Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Diageo, a global provider of alcoholic beverages with its headquarters in London, is the owner of Lagavulin. It was once advertised under the no longer in existence Classic Malts line of single malts. The typical release is a 16-year-old with a 43% ABV. Additionally, a Distiller's edition that was aged in Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrels is bottled. A 12-year-old cask-strength variant and numerous older and rarer expressions are also routinely released in addition to these. The name Lagavulin is a translation from the Scottish Gaelic means hollow of the mill, Lag a' Mhuilinn.
