Product Description

Deanston Virgin Oak is a single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Deanston Distillery in Stirling, Scotland. It is aged in oak barrels that have not been previously used to age any other type of spirit, hence the term "virgin oak." This gives the whisky its unique flavor profile. Deanston Virgin Oak is made using malted barley that is grown in the surrounding region and is distilled using traditional methods. After distillation, the whisky is aged in oak barrels that have not been previously used to age any other type of spirit. The use of virgin oak barrels imparts flavors of vanilla, toffee, and caramel to the whisky. Deanston Virgin Oak has a deep amber color and an aroma with notes of vanilla, toffee, and caramel. On the palate, it has flavors of vanilla, toffee, and caramel, with a long, well-balanced finish. It is typically enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as a component in cocktails. It is considered to be one of the brand's premium offerings and is often given as a gift or enjoyed on special occasions.

Additional Notes

Deanston Virgin Oak is a remarkable single malt whisky that undergoes a unique maturation process in American oak casks. Enjoy the smoothness and complexity of Deanston Virgin Oak, a true delight for whisky enthusiasts.

Production Methods

Deanston Virgin Oak is crafted using traditional production methods that result in a whisky of exceptional quality. The production process begins with carefully selected malted barley, which is milled and mashed to extract the rich sugars. The sweet wort is then fermented using a unique strain of yeast, allowing for the development of distinct flavors and aromas. The fermented wash is then double-distilled in copper pot stills, a method that ensures the purity and character of the spirit. What sets Deanston Virgin Oak apart is its maturation process. The whisky is aged in American oak barrels that have never been used before, also known as virgin oak. This imparts intense flavors of vanilla, honey, and toasted oak to the whisky, creating a truly remarkable taste profile. The combination of traditional production methods and the use of virgin oak casks results in the smooth and complex whisky that is Deanston Virgin Oak.

Serving Suggestions

Deanston Virgin Oak is a versatile whisky that can be enjoyed in various ways. Neat is the preferred method for savoring its rich flavors and complex character. Pour a measure of Deanston Virgin Oak into a whisky glass and take a moment to appreciate its enticing aromas. Sip it slowly, allowing the flavors to unfold on your palate. For those who prefer a slightly milder experience, adding a few drops of water can help to release additional nuances and soften the whisky's intensity. If you're looking to explore new flavor profiles, try Deanston Virgin Oak in classic whisky cocktails like an Old Fashioned or a Whisky Sour. The combination of its distinctive flavors and the mixers' ingredients can create a unique and delightful drinking experience. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, Deanston Virgin Oak promises a memorable whisky experience that will please both connoisseurs and whisky enthusiasts alike.

About The Brand: Deanston

Eight miles from the ancient town of Stirling and at the entrance to the breathtaking Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park sits the Deanston Distillery, a single malt Scotch whiskey distillery. Distell Group Limited, a maker of Scotch whiskey, also owns Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull and Bunnahabhain Distillery on the Isle of Islay. It is their largest distillery. Sir Richard Arkwright created the cotton factory that would become Deanston Distillery in 1785. It operated as a cotton mill for 180 years before being converted to a distillery in 1966. The choice to convert the mill into a distillery was influenced by the reliable availability of clean water from the River Teith. Deanston is currently the only distillery in Scotland that is completely self-sufficient in electricity, with power produced by an on-site hydro-energy system. Scotland's Highland single malt region includes Deanston, which produces whiskey that is created by 10 local artisans, unchill filtered, naturally colored, and bottled at a 46.3% ABV strength.
