Four Roses Bourbon is a brand of straight bourbon whiskey produced by the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The brand was founded in 1888 and is named after the four roses that founder Paul Jones Jr. sent to the woman he eventually married. Four Roses Bourbon is made with a blend of two mashbills (recipes) and five proprietary yeast strains. The combination of these ingredients creates ten distinct bourbon recipes, which are used to create the brand's various whiskey products. Four Roses Bourbon is aged for a minimum of five years in charred oak barrels, which imparts a rich amber color and complex flavor to the whiskey. It has a smooth, well-balanced taste and is known for its notes of fruit, spice, and vanilla. Four Roses Bourbon is often enjoyed neat or on the rocks, but can also be used in cocktails.
