The Speyside distillery Cardhu was established in 1824 by whiskey smuggler John Cumming and his wife Helen close to Archiestown, Moray, Scotland. The distillery is presently managed by Diageo, and the Scotch whiskey from the distillery contributes significantly to the Johnnie Walker blended whiskies. The Scots Gaelic phrase Carn Dubh, which means 'Black Rock,' is where the word 'Cardhu' originates. Cardhu single malt scotch whiskey has a large spirit that is effortless and graceful, flowing like the talk of wonderful company. Any energetic host needs one of these smooth, sweet, mellow personalities to keep them company. They are derived from the peat-softened waters of the Mannoch Hills.
