Its aromas of vanilla, honey, and cinnamon, as well as its flavors of citrus, toffee, and oak, make it a popular choice among whisky enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Tasting Notes

Notes: Overall, Monkey Shoulder is a well-balanced and approachable whisky that is perfect for those who are new to the world of Scotch or those who enjoy a light and flavorful dram.

Production Methods

Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt Scotch whisky that is made using a unique production process. It is a blend of three different single malt whiskies that are carefully selected and married together in small batches to create a smooth and well-balanced flavor profile. The whiskies are produced at the Balvenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distilleries in Scotland, which are all owned by William Grant & Sons, the producer of Monkey Shoulder. The malted barley used in the production of Monkey Shoulder is traditionally floor-malted and then kiln-dried with peat smoke to give it a subtle smoky flavor. The whisky is then matured in first-fill bourbon casks, which give it its vanilla and toffee notes. Overall, the production process of Monkey Shoulder is a meticulous and skilled craft that results in a unique and high-quality blended malt whisky.

About The Brand: Monkey Shoulder

Originally developed to create the best whiskey cocktails, Monkey Shoulder has since entered the fray. Get a delightful scent of vanilla, honey, spiced oak, and orange zest before taking a cheeky sip to taste mellow vanilla with notes of spice. The smooth, malty, and fruity taste is robust enough to stand out in a cocktail yet balanced enough not to take it over. Never one to keep quiet at a gathering. One of the first whisky-producing families in the world, William Grant & Sons, is the source of Monkey Shoulder. Since 1887, William Grant & Sons has been producing the best Scotch whiskey and is still family-owned today. The William Grants team saw an opportunity to introduce the world of Scotch to a much larger audience early in the 2000s by promoting cocktails and mixed drinks as a fresh way to experience Scotch. In order to produce the ideal whiskey for mixing, a legendary mixture of Scotch malt whiskies was chosen, and as you can see from our bottle, the blend that was selected was known as batch 27. Because blends often contained some grain whiskey, the concept of combining exclusively malt whiskies was new at the time. But our ideal mix didn't, so we were forced to invent a brand-new kind of Scotch known as 'a blend of malts' that had never been made before. 'Batch 27' didn't have the best ring to it, so we decided to rename our whisky Monkey Shoulder in honor of our whisky ancestry and set out to shake up the whisky industry in 2003. The rest is history, as they say!
