About The Brand: Amrut

Indian single malt whiskey sold under the Amrut name is produced by Amrut Distilleries. It is the country's first single malt whiskey to be produced. The Sanskrit term amrut, sometimes known as amrit, means 'nectar of the gods,' 'nectar of life,' or 'drink of the gods.' It is translated as 'Elixir of Life' by the corporation. Jim Murray, a renowned whiskey expert, gave the brand an 82 out of 100 grade in 2005 and 2010. Amrut Fusion single malt whiskey was ranked third in the world by Murray in 2010. Editor of the American publication Whisky Advocate, John Hansell, stated 'Indian whisky was formerly simply cheap Scotch whisky combined with who knows what and sold as Indian whisky, but India's Amrut distillery transformed that perception. Whisky is produced by Amrut, and it's excellent'. On August 24, 2004, Amrut introduced their whiskey in Glasgow. Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are among the countries that sell Amrut single malt whiskey.
