Interestingly, their 15 year old expression has enjoyed a finishing period in Vermont oak barrels which have been given a long toast and heavy char. Due to shorter growing seasons and harsh winters, Vermont oak has a tight grain pattern, which can affect the flavour profile of the whiskey - there's some tree terroir afoot here!~ Master of Malt

Vermont is home to the whiskey distillery WhistlePig. The distillery specializes in producing 'ultra-premium' rye whiskey, which it dominated by itself in the early 21st century when most rye whiskey cost around $20 per bottle. The WhistlePig distillery was built on land that businessman Raj Bhakta bought in 2007. The whiskey company was established in 2010, and their 10-year rye was introduced in 2015.
