Nc'nean announced the latest release of the 2023 Huntress series. The limited editions of this series are the result of unique whisky experiments, which the overall goal of said experiments is to find and explore new flavours.
Distillery founder Annabell Thomas utilised special yeast cultures to craft the Nc'nean Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy. In contrast to the previous year's edition which employed three yeasts, including a unique rum yeast, the 2023 Woodland Candy distillate incorporated four yeasts for the first time, including red and white wine yeasts.
Technical Details
The Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy was made with 100% organic Scottish barley, using a blend of Anchor, Fermentis, red wine, and white wine yeasts. It was bottled at 48.5% ABV and left unadulterated in terms of its natural colour. Furthermore, the whisky was non-chill filtered, retaining all of its natural flavours and aromas. These factors come together to create a unique and complex flavour profile that whisky enthusiasts will surely appreciate. The casks used were 35% first fill bourbon casks and 65% STR red wine casks.
Only 4,556 bottles have been released.
