The latest addition to the 2023 Huntress series has been revealed by Nc'nean, showcasing their continued pursuit to discover novel flavours through unique whisky experiments. Founder Annabell Thomas utilised special yeast cultures in the creation of Nc'nean Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy. In contrast to last year's edition that incorporated three yeasts, including a distinctive rum yeast, the 2023 Woodland Candy distillate incorporated four yeasts for the first time, including red and white wine yeasts.
Creamy toffee that invites you in with a warm and welcoming aroma.
On the palate, the taste is just as delightful with a burst of forest fruits, which provide a sweet and fruity flavor.
The herbal spice comes through on the finish, providing a subtle kick that balances out the sweetness of the fruits.
The mouthfeel is smooth and velvety, allowing the flavors to dance on your palate. This whisky is a perfect example of the balance between sweetness and spice, and is a must-try for any whisky lover looking for a unique and satisfying experience.
The Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy was made with 100% organic Scottish barley, using a blend of Anchor, Fermentis, red wine, and white wine yeasts. It was bottled at 48.5% ABV and left unadulterated in terms of its natural colour. Furthermore, the whisky was non-chill filtered, retaining all of its natural flavours and aromas. These factors come together to create a unique and complex flavour profile that whisky enthusiasts will surely appreciate. The casks used were 35% first fill bourbon casks and 65% STR red wine casks. Only 4,556 bottles have been released.
Nc'nean Huntress 2023 Woodland Candy is a limited edition single malt whisky with a sweet and fruity profile. It is recommended to be served neat or with a splash of water to open up the flavors. It can also be paired with light desserts such as vanilla ice cream or lemon tart to enhance its sweetness. This whisky is best enjoyed in a Glencairn glass or a snifter to fully experience its aroma and taste.

A Scotch whiskey distillery called Nc'nean is located near Drimnin on the Morvern peninsula in Scotland's Highlands. The distillery is situated across from the Isle of Mull, close to the Sound of Mull. The distillery's name, Nc'nean, is derived from the Gaelic tale 'Neachneohain,' which means 'the Queen of Spirits' (it is pronounced Nc-ne-an). The distillery's main goal is to produce an organic spirit with little harm to the neighborhood environment. The distillery achieved net zero carbon emissions during whiskey production first in the UK. The distillery employs 100% recycled glass for its bottles and offsets emissions by planting new forests. Unpeated whisky is used. Annabel Thomas established the distillery, which started producing in 2017. Family, friends, loans, seed investors under the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, and a £600,000 grant from the EU through the Scottish Government provided the distillery with its initial finance. Jeremy Paxman, a well-known investor, has a 0.6% interest. The master distiller Jim Swan passed away unexpectedly just before the first distillation of 2017 took place. Gordon Wood, the current master distiller, had worked for Diageo. The distillery raised £1.7 million in March 2020 to support growth. The distillery sold its first bottle of single malt Scotch whiskey at auction in August 2020, collecting £41,004 for a good cause. Nc'nean received its certification as a B Corp in February 2022.
