It was made by Shanghai-based designer Angel Chen, a rising talent in the fashion world and a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art. The dynamic, contemporary version of the vivacious rabbit, the year's zodiac animal for 2023, is featured in the brilliantly vibrant design for the Year of the Rabbit. The rabbit represents longevity in ancient Asian culture and is a symbol of kindness, elegance, and beauty. Prancing rabbits are seen running through mountain peaks as an allusion to the Johnnie Walker tagline, Keep Walking.

The designer created her designs for the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Lunar New Year Limited Edition Design in collaboration with Johnnie Walker Master Blender Emma Walker and her crew. Her artwork is appropriately featured on the premium Johnnie Walker Blue Label whiskey, which is created utilizing some of the rarest whiskies from the unrivaled Johnnie Walker reserves of Scotch that are aging. These priceless barrels are acquired from long-abandoned "ghost" distilleries.
Angel Chen and Johnnie Walker have previously worked together. She has previously created stunning graphics for the limited edition Lunar New Year John Walker & Sons XR 21 and John Walker & Sons King George V designs.
