Product Description

This extremely rare Speyside single malt Scotch whisky was distilled at The Macallan in 1955 and bottled for the UK market by one of the distillers' official bottlers in the sixties and seventies, Campbell, Hope & King of Elgin. Bottled at 80 proof and 26 2/3 FL. Ozs in the 1970's, this highly collectible malt comes in decent condition, with a very high neck fill, considering its advancing years. Many vintage Macallan's from this era were bottled for the Italian market, whom at that time, were more highly appreciative and passionate about the golden nectar than the rest of us. It seems the rest of the world has since woken up to the fact that single malts are the most highly complex drink on the market, offering taste and smell sensations that no other luxury drink can match.

About The Brand: The Macallan

In Craigellachie, Moray, Scotland, there is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery called The Macallan. A completely owned subsidiary of Edrington, The Macallan Distillers Ltd. acquired the Highland Distillers trademark in 1999. Next to Glenfiddich and, by some estimates, Glenlivet, The Macallan is widely regarded as the second- or third-highest-selling single-malt scotch. The Macallan was first solely aged in wood sherry barrels that were sent to the distillery from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The Fine Oak series, a new flagship offering from The Macallan that debuted in 2004, has whiskey that has been aged in bourbon oak barrels in addition to sherry casks. The Triple Cask Matured range replaced the Fine Oak line as of 2018. On our estate in Speyside, Scotland, is where the Macallan Distillery is located. Here, in a place fit for the attitude it reflects, we craft our unmatched single malts. Just 400 meters from our former distillery and next to Easter Elchies House, our distillery was created by the highly regarded international architectural firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.
