A single malt Scotch whiskey from Speyside is called The Glenrothes. It is produced in the Glenrothes Distillery in the Scottish town of Rothes, in the Speyside area. In a glen on the outskirts of the town, the distillery is situated next to the Burn of Rothes. The Glenrothes is well known for its quality, structure, and flavor, the products of a more than 140-year-old legacy of whiskey production. The distillery's whiskey has long been one of Speyside's most sought-after when it first opened. The Chairman's Trophy for Best Speyside Single Malt, the highest honor in the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, was given to The Glenrothes 25 Year Old in 2018. Vintage bottlings of The Glenrothes began to be made in 1993 while Berry Bros. & Rudd was the owner. The distillery is reported to have bottled the Vintage 2004 as its final vintage. The Glenrothes updated its vintage collection in 2018 with a line of single malts with age statements, including a 10, 12, 18 and 25 Year Old. The Glenrothes is mostly aged in European and American oak barrels that have been specially made in Jerez, Spain and have been seasoned with sherry. Even yet, the usage of ex-Bourbon casks is significantly less prevalent. With a spectrum of flavors ranging from the delicate and fresh 10 Year Old to the deep and nuanced 25 Year Old, the end result is a multifaceted single malt range. 'Single Cask' bottles, which are made from a single cask of whiskey from a certain year, are one type of special bottling. One of the few Scotch whiskey distilleries with an on-site cooperage is The Glenrothes.
