This single malt was independently bottled by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark collection. About The Brand: GlenAllachie

The fourth distillery created by William-Delme Evans and constructed by Mackinlay McPherson was the GlenAllachie Distillery (distilling arm of Scottish and Newcastle). It was made to run on less energy by being virtually fully gravity supplied. The distillery's first production run, with a capacity of roughly three million liters of alcohol, started in February 1968. After only six months, operations went from two stills to four. The distillery was put on hold the year when Mackinlay McPherson joined Invergordon. Production resumed on April 24th when Campbell Distillers (later a division of Pernod Ricard) bought the distillery in 1989. This marked the beginning of 29 years of unbroken production. With more than a century of combined experience in the business, Billy Walker, Trisha Savage, and Graham Stevenson joined forces to purchase the GlenAllachie Distillery and create The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Limited. Our first core line of single malt whiskies was made available to the public in July of this year. The selection included 10, 12, 18, and 25-year-old options that were all natural in color, unfiltered, and bottled with at least 46% alcohol by volume. We finally released MacNair's Lum Reek, our blended malt Scotch whiskey, after considerable anticipation. Peated Speyside and Islay malts were blended with more aged GlenAllachie. After additional aging in casks at GlenAllachie Distillery, the whiskey is then blended by Master Distiller Billy Walker. For complete information, see the website. In our 50-year history, we opened our doors to visitors on the first day of the Spirit of Speyside Festival 2019. We provided tours, distillery-exclusive single casks, and the opportunity to hand-fill your own bottle directly from a cask. Billy Walker was admitted into the esteemed Hall of Fame of Whisky Magazine. The Hall of Fame is a permanent memorial to those who have had a significant impact on the whiskey industry and was created as a result of the 100 greatest whisky characters in history. Batch 4 of our 10-year-old Cask Strength earned the World's Best Single Malt at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards, one of the most competitive and prestigious honors, making it one of our proudest achievements to yet. We introduced White Heather 21-year-old, the first-ever blended Scotch whisky, with Billy Walker returning to his career roots as a blender. The GlenAllachie 30-year-old, a brand-new addition to our multi-award-winning flagship line. This expression is our oldest and most distinguished core product to date. It is released annually in small batches. As MacNair's evolved into a Boutique House of Spirits, which included rum and whiskey, Billy Walker ventured into a new spirit category. In 2022, our visitor center won the Whisky Magazine Icons of Whisky Award for Visitor Attraction of the Year. We introduced a 15-year-old whiskey as the foundation of our popular White Heather Blended Scotch line. The amber-hued drink, which had a high malt content of 47%, won Gold with 95 points at the IWSC 2022 and was praised as 'excellent' by the professional judging panel. We introduced The GlenAllachie Past, Present, and Future Series, the first in a celebration trilogy of Speyside Single Malts, to honor Master Distiller Billy Walker's 50 years of service to the whiskey industry. Each of the historic bourbons commemorates significant turning points in Walker's illustrious career. The initial release was a 16-year-old single malt that had fully aged in sherry and was described as having 'the classic Billy Walker character.' We introduced the first-ever Mizunara Virgin Oak Cask Finish whisky as the second installment of the Billy Walker 50th Anniversary Trilogy. The current edition embodies the ground-breaking approach to barrel management that our master distiller is putting into practice at our distillery.
