Single Malts of Scotland Reserve Casks Parcel No. 9 from independent bottler Elixir Distillers is a 12-year-old Benrinnes single malt that was aged in a batch of four refill sherry hogsheads. Old leather, cherries, sandalwood, clove, and cinnamon are the dominant aromas in the nose. On the tongue and in the lingering aftertaste are flavors of Black Forest gateau, flaked almonds, coffee beans, ginger snaps, and cherry cola.
