Product Description

Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It was established in 1798 and had Aldour name, but was consequently renamed to Blair Athol to sweeten the Duke of Athol who owned the land. In the 1970's, Blair Athol spirit became an integral part of Bell's blended Scotch, which was one of the UK's top-selling blended Scotch brands. Now, part of the Diageo portfolio, the cloudy worts and a short fermentation time give the Blair Athol new make a nutty base, but it is distillation which adds real weight in the distillate. Cask Number: #300943 Cask Type: Finished in first fill Bourbon Hogshead Bottles: 265 Colour: White Saffron Crocus Blossom Nose: Wonderfully refine vanilla and cereal, delicate pear drops and a vague hint of savoury smoke. Palate: Oily and lingering, tart fruit, a combination of peach and rhubarb, wonderfully tart with almost no spice. Finish: Fruity, distinct peach lingers for far longer than expected, a tingle on the tongue and something chewy in the cheeks.
