La Martiniquaise makes a variety of blended Scotch whiskies under the brand name Cutty Sark. The whisky was produced by Berry Bros. & Rudd on March 23, 1923, and is said to have originated in The Glenrothes distillery in Scotland's Speyside area. The short shirt prominently described in Robert Burns' well-known song 'Tam o' Shanter,' 'cutty-sark,' inspired the name of the clipper ship Cutty Sark, which was built on the River Clyde. The Swedish artist Carl Georg August Wallin created the illustration of the clipper ship Cutty Sark that appears on the label of the whiskey bottles. He was a mariner painter, and this is likely the most well-known ship picture he has created. Since 1955, this illustration has appeared on the whiskey bottles. The Cutty Sark Tall Ships' Races were the original name of the tall ships races for huge sailing ships since they were sponsored by the liquor company.
