Back in 1981 the very first Slane Castle concert took place, headlined by Irish rockers Thin Lizzie. Safe to say it went down well, as over 40 years later the annual Slane Festival is still going strong. As with Slane's classic expression, whiskeys are selected and blended from a variety of casks – virgin oak casks, seasoned Tennessee whiskey and bourbon casks, and Oloroso Sherry casks. The Slane gang has increased the use of virgin oak from 35% to 45% and dialled up the bottling strength (to 45% ABV) as a reminder of a classic 45rpm vinyl record format!
