Decidedly smoky rye whisky from the Kyrö team in Finland! The rye used for this expression was smoked with alder wood, which they say can impart hints of smoked ham and campfire smoke. Blend that with the aromatic spiciness of rye and the creamy, vanilla-rich notes imparted by maturation in ex-bourbon, French oak, and new American white oak barrels, and you've got a spectacular spirit on your hands!

A Finnish rye distillery named Kyrö Distillery Company was established in a sauna in 2012. Rye gin and rye whisky are produced by Kyrö using only Finnish rye. The International Wine and Spirit Competition's Best Gin for Gin & Tonic category was won in 2015 by Kyrö Napue Gin, formerly known as Napue. Kyrö released their rye whisky, Kyrö Malt, in August 2020. During COVID-19, Kyrö started making hand sanitizer to aid healthcare personnel. The firm avoided layoffs thanks to the sales of the hand sanitizer, therefore manufacturing has continued. On August 29, 2012, in Isokyrö, Finland, Miika Lipiäinen, Mikko Koskinen, Kalle Valkonen, Miko Heinilä, and Jouni Ritola registered Kyrö Distillery Company as Rye Rye Osakeyhtiö. The founders had the concept for the business when they were enjoying American rye whisky in a sauna. They were perplexed by the absence of rye-based whiskey distilleries in Finland, considering that rye is a key component of Finnish culture. The founders traveled to micro-distilleries and still manufacturers around Europe to learn about the distilling sector because they lacked any prior expertise. The distillery was erected close to the River Kyrö in a cheese factory that was constructed in 1908 and once made the Finnish Oltermanni cheese. The company's visual identity was developed by the Helsinki-based design firm Werklig, which also included a bespoke typeface called Napue Sans based on memorial engravings of the 1714 Battle of Napue, which took place nearby the distillery during the Great Northern War. All of Kyrö's publications and goods, including its logo, employ the typeface. Kyrö Distillery Company GmbH was established in 2020. Through the German business, Kyrö runs an online store where goods may be purchased across Europe. Kyrö exports its goods to over 30 different nations worldwide.
