Australia's Corowa distillery was established in 2010 after two residents had the idea to convert the location and preserve it from ruin. It is located on the site of a historic flour mill in New South Wales. For just one dollar, the local council agreed to sell them the flour mill in exchange for a guarantee that they would build a distillery and make their modest town famous. This single malt, made from locally produced barley, spent four years in barrels that had previously housed Australian tawny wine, a fortified beverage comparable to Port. Since Corowa is located in the center of the Rutherglen wine area, there are a ton of excellent barrels available. The first batch has 592 bottles.
