Ian Macleod the scottish spirits manufacturer has debuted a new GTR (global travel retail) exclusive whisky under its Edinburgh Gin brand. Its name comes from North American white oak, which is generally used by Bourbon producers.
This announcement came during the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) show on October 3rd, 2022, in Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. The White Cask will be exclusive to the travel retail channel for two years. Its aim is to be a ‘contemporary and reasonably priced’ single malt.
The White Cask’s liquid comes from an undisclosed Speyside distillery. It has notes of vanilla, honey, citrus and fruit.
“The White Cask is one of the few malts which appeals to the younger and more contemporary audience. The travel retail market is the perfect environment for us to seed the brand for a future domestic launch.” ~ William Ovens, Ian Macleod Distillers’ global travel retail (GTR) director
The White Cask, The First-Fill Edition 1L (41.1% ABV) will be available from February next year in travel retail, priced at RRP £39 (US$44).
