This single cask from The Last Drop is part of a pair of releases distilled in 1968 at Glenrothes distillery in Speyside. Matured for five decades before bottling in 2018, only 141 bottles were filled at a cask strength of 50.2% abv. Each bottle is presented in a stunning leather case complete with bespoke stopper, luxury tasting book, 5cl miniature and certificate of authenticity. Charles Maclean described this release as: "18 carat gold in colour – surprisingly good beading for its strength. A slight prickle on the nose and a complex, mellow aroma which is at once fruity and herbal – crystallised greengages, dusty dried mixed herbs – with an elusive whiff of scented smoke, a trace of cigar boxes and after a while a hint of candle wax. The texture is oily and the taste sweet and centre palate, with some saltiness and peppery spice in the long warming finish and a slightly mentholic aftertaste.”~ Master of Malt
