Product Description

Distilled in 2008 at Glen Moray, this single malt Scotch was treated to 13 years of maturation. Its final four months were spent in a single octave cask, to allow more rapid interaction between the wood and the whisky, resulting in gloriously rich notes of oaken vanilla, and a silky mouthfeel. In 2021, a total of 76 bottles were released by Duncan Taylor, for The Octave series.

About The Brand: Glen Moray

The Speyside distillery Glen Moray produces single malt scotch whiskey. The distillery, which is located in Elgin, Moray, on the banks of the River Lossie, began operating in September 1897. The Glenmorangie Company Ltd. sold it to La Martiniquaise in 2008. More than 120 years have passed since we started creating Glen Moray in the heart of Speyside. Our single malt Scotch whiskey is still influenced by the rich history of our country. Robert Thorne & Sons' West Brewery in Elgin was the forerunner of Glen Moray, which was transformed in 1897 into a distillery with two stills. The firm concentrated on producing Aberlour whisky after a fire and a major restoration effort at its Aberlour Plant, allowing the Glen Moray distillery to deteriorate. In 1910, it was abandoned. The MacDonald and Muir families, who also run Glenmorangie Distillery, acquired the distillery at some point in the 1920s. The distillery now has an annual capacity of around 2,000,000 liters after receiving 2 more stills in 1958. The business is currently owned by La Martiniquaise, who utilizes a portion of its output in their blended Whisky Label 5 and has a distillery in West Lothian called Starlaw. In 2012, the distillery's capacity was increased to 3,300,000 liters per year from 3 wash stills and 3 spirit stills. The facility has continued to expand and develop in 2016, and it is anticipated that output will increase to around 5,500,000 liters yearly.
