Product Description

This superb vintage Convalmore was taken in 1975 from a single hogshead made of American oak that had been filled at the now-gone Highland distillery. After 46 years of age, a whiskey with a scent of tropical fruits, candied peel, and rose petals has developed. Prior to a protracted finish that leaves citrus notes lingering on the tongue, the wine exhibits extraordinary concentration with caramelized orange, flowery honeys, and roasted almonds. Convalmore, the fourth of the renowned Dufftown seven stills, was constructed during the conclusion of the Victorian whiskey era. The result was a fruity spirit with a waxy mouthfeel that has frequently been compared to the fabled Clynelish. During the challenging 1980s, it was closed and never reopened, like so many other famous distilleries. Releases like this provide an interesting window into a style that has been lost to history because there are vanishingly few barrels from this old Highlander left.
