On the Inner Hebridean Isle of Raasay in Northwest Scotland, there is a Scotch whiskey distillery called Isle of Raasay Distillery. When it debuted in 2014, the distillery, which is operated by R&B Distillers, was the first authorized distillery on the Isle of Raasay. Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day created R&B Distillers in 2014. After gaining its distiller's license, the firm set up shop on the Isle of Raasay in September 2017. Whisky manufacture uses water from a Celtic Iron Age well for the distillation process. The island's volcanic and sandstone geology gives the water a high mineral concentration. At the distillery on Raasay, the whiskey is aged in a variety of oak barrels after being produced in copper pot stills. Each year, the distillery will generate about 200,000 liters of pure alcohol. Isle of Raasay Single Malt Scotch, which has been available since 2020, is the distillery's signature product. Since then, the distillery has produced several single barrel and limited edition whiskeys. The distillery is located on the grounds of the now-defunct Borodale House hotel in the southwest of the island. A visitors' center for the Isle of Raasay Distillery debuted in January 2018. In June 2018, it received a rating of 5 stars as a tourist destination. In addition, the distillery has a six-bedroom hotel with a view of the Isle of Skye.
