The Thompson brothers in Dornoch have produced a carefully crafted, incredibly inexpensive blended malt with the whiskey connoisseur in mind. Station Road Vat 5, also known as SRV5, is wed in the European oak vat seen on the label (by Yu Kurahashi of Bar Tre, Hiroshima). Since the whisky is always pulled off when it is more than a third full, this functions as a solera. This 8 year old whiskey is bottled at a healthy 48.5%, so expect nice body, fruitiness, waxiness, and a backbone of balanced peat. It is naturally colored and non-chill filtered, as one might anticipate.
