We're big fans of Irish whiskey, but a few of us here at MoM Towers are also rather fond of Irish cider too - so this cider cask-finished Tullamore D.E.W. is right up our alley! Thought to be the first of its kind, this expression packs a mighty punch of fruity notes right from the outset, so it ought to work quite well as an aperitif, or perhaps accompanying a rich, chocolatey dessert.

In Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, there is a distillery that produces Irish whiskey. The distillery was constructed by William Grant & Sons for a price of €35 million, and it opened its doors in September 2014. It is the first brand-new distillery to be built on a virgin site in Ireland in more than a century, and the first to start operations in Tullamore since 1954. The distillery's construction is being done in phases. The distillery's initial design allowed it to use four pot stills to create up to 1.8 million liters of pot still and malt whiskey annually. However, plans have been made to add two more pot stills to the distillery, doubling its current capacity to 3.6 million liters annually. 2017 saw the construction of a grain distillery and bottling factory after an extra €25 million investment. With the addition of a grain distillery, the distillery is now able to manufacture all three types of whiskey used to make its Tullamore D.E.W. blended whiskey—pot still, malt, and grain whiskey—on-site.
