Product Description

Feast your eyes upon the 2022 release of Midleton Very Rare! The annual bottling of exceptional Irish whiskey is always hotly anticipated, and always impresses. Master distiller Kevin O'Gorman has used his skills and the marvellous Midleton stocks to create this astonishing expression, comprised of single pot still and single grain whiskeys, matured in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels. A triumph of Irish whiskey!

About The Brand: Midleton

Midleton, County Cork, Ireland is home to the Midleton distillery complex. Irish Distillers, a division of Pernod Ricard, is the owner of it. The Old Midleton Distillery, which was built nearby and is now a tourist attraction called the Jameson Experience, dates back to the early 17th century. The Irish Distillers Group was founded in 1966 as a result of a merger of John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son, and the Cork Distilleries Company (which controlled the Old Midleton distillery). The newly created company's board made the decision to shut down its current distilleries and move all operations to a new location. As the only existing site with space for expansion, this was constructed in Midleton. Production ceased at The Old Jameson Distillery in July 1975, and it started again at the new one. Today, a tourist center occupies the former distillery. Irish Distillers invested approximately €200 million to quadruple the plant's capacity and construct a new maturation facility in the neighbouring town of Dungourney since 2010, greatly expanding the distillery. One of the most cutting-edge distilleries in the world, Midleton connects its production sites with fiber-optic networks. The distillery has three 75,000-liter pot stills—the biggest stills in use right now anywhere in the world—as well as three column stills, which are combined to create several whiskey varieties. The distillery is the biggest in Ireland, with an annual output capacity of 64 million liters. The distillery also has a tiny distillery, which can produce roughly 50,000 L of alcohol annually using smaller pot stills.
